JUNIORS
At Popcorn classes are taught in a structured and fun environment. Your child will learn to sing, act and dance while we nurture their confidence and creativity.
At the end of each term children will have the opportunity to present what they have been working on to their friends and family. This will be a themed production with songs, scenes and dance routines from a specific musical.
In Musical Theatre we focus on all elements of performance, singing, acting and dancing. Every term we work towards an end of term performance, which is usually a sharing of a specific musical or a showcase of different songs, scenes and dances that we have been working on throughout the term. Throughout the term we use the chosen material to work on technique is all areas, including vocal and physical fitness, dynamic movement and stagecraft. This class develops the student’s knowledge and they will start working with scripts and how to break down and create characters. They will work on their improvisation skills, which will help build their confidence and help them step out of their comfort zone. The students start to learn how to sing correctly and add dance movements. It really doesn’t matter if they have never sung or danced or acted before as our classes are suitable for all levels of experience!
Your child will be encouraged to work collaboratively with others. The class will challenge each individual to develop their role-play, improvisation, characterisation and theatrical skills. We will work on different styles from Mime, Physical Theatre, Musical Theatre and Pantomime. Over time you will see your child's social skills and stage presence improve as they gain confidence in themselves. In singing we focus on improving children’s quality of speech and encourage good vocal technique. Each class will start with a vocal warm up, including breathing techniques, pitch and vocal timing. The class will then learn the main song of the term, where they will get to experiment with solo and group singing. In dance we focus on improving children’s fitness, posture and quality of movement. The focus is on encouraging self-expression and creativity through dance.
New Paragraph
"My daughter has loved these workshops! The size of the group isn’t too big, meaning each child gets attention and they work well as a team. Having done nearly a year at another well known group, we were disappointed at the lack of real opportunity to act and sing and have a speaking part. Every child at Popcorn has equal opportunity to shine. Highly recommended."
